Inter‐decadal variation in diadromous and potamodromous fish assemblages in a near pristine tropical dryland river

چکیده
Abstract Freshwater ecosystems are both incredibly biodiverse and highly threatened globally. Variation in environmental parameters including habitat flow can substantially affect many ecological processes within riverine aquatic communities, but the ties between such ecology neither well studied nor understood. In variable tropical dryland river systems, assessing relationships requires data collection over inter‐decadal time scales, which is not typically permitted on development schedules driven short periods (including election funding cycles). Here, we used seine net sampling collected an 18‐year period Fitzroy River, Western Australia, to assess how temporal factors habitat, seasonality, inter‐annual variation wet season magnitude community assemblage structure, recruitment, growth of species rivers. Results demonstrated that macrohabitat (main channel vs floodplain creek) rains resultant flooding had a substantial influence biotic alongside seasonal diel variation. The (measured as discharge volume) greatest impact composition creek habitats was significant driver recruitment rates recruits adults several examined. This study highlights key considerations for conserving systems constituent biota. Specifically, these maintaining (a) rhythmicity each year, (b) diversity volume years, (c) variety types ephemeral, semi‐permanent, permanent shallow deeper main pools, order support diverse array generalist specialist diadromous potamodromous fishes.

Trophic Structure and Mercury Biomagnification in Tropical Fish Assemblages, Iténez River, Bolivia
We examined mercury concentrations in three fish assemblages to estimate biomagnification rates in the Iténez main river, affected by anthropogenic activities, and two unperturbed rivers from the Iténez basin, Bolivian Amazon. Rivers presented low to moderate water mercury concentrations (from 1.25 ng L(-1) to 2.96 ng L(-1)) and natural differences in terms of sediment load. Mercury biomagnific...
متن کاملFish assemblages and habitat ecology of River Pinder in central Himalaya, India
Snow-fed River Pinder -a tributary of River Alaknanda in central Himalaya was explored for fish assemblages and habitat specificity. Altogether 27 fish species were reported from three orders, four families and nine genera. Cypriniformes order was dominating followed by Siluriformes and Salmoniformes. Shannon-Weiner diversity index (3.09 to 4.10) and Simpson index of diversity (0.81 to 0.92) of...

abstract in written mode of language, metadiscourse markers are used commonly to help writers in general and academic writers in particular to produce coherent and professional texts. the purpose of the present study was to compare introduction sections of applied linguistics and physics articles regarding their use of interactive and interactional metadiscourse markers based on the model pro...

The implications of shallow water impacts such as fishing and climate change on fish assemblages are generally considered in isolation from the distribution and abundance of these fish assemblages in adjacent deeper waters. We investigate the abundance and length of demersal fish assemblages across a section of tropical continental shelf at Ningaloo Reef, Western Australia, to identify fish and...
